Environmental education http://environment.alberta.ca/926.html
is an important tool used to achieve Alberta Environment's goals.
We make use of education to help Albertans become more aware
of
environmental issues which affect our province. Our clients include
teachers, students, community groups and staff within the department
itself.
What can we provide in terms of environmental education? We supply
credible, comprehensive and fun-filled materials to support Alberta
environmental education programs. We offer workshops on environmental
topics to Alberta teachers, and we work with our staff to extend
the department's educational messages to schools and communities
throughout the province.
See Alberta Environment Water Page for legislation and policy
information, Water Act and various other materials and resources.

The Alberta Lake Management Society (ALMS) http://www.alms.ca/
was formally established on November 1991 and was officially incorporated
as a non-profit organization under the Societies Act of Alberta
in December 1991. In 1992, ALMS became the first Canadian Chapter
of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS). ALMS and
its members are active in providing a link to individuals, local
communities, educational institutions, governments and industry
across Alberta who are interested in the management of lakes and
reservoirs and their watersheds. The Society organizes and holds
a workshop at one of Alberta's lake communities every year. The
workshop provides a forum to discuss issues, technical aspects of
lake and watershed management, and practical solutions to local
problems.
The Society also maintains a resource library of publications
that is available for loan to its members. The newsletter From The
Shoreline is published by the Society three times a year.
